HAPPY NEW YEAR- two thousand and ten!!! As the dawn breaks on a new year, let us give thanks for all we hold dear: our health, our family and our friends. Let us release our grudges, our anger and our pains, for these are nothing but binding chains. Let us live each day in the most loving ways, the God-conscious way. Let us serve all who are in need, regardless of race, color or creed. Let us remember that we are all one... embracing all, discriminating against none. May our year be filled with peace, prosperity and love. May God's blessings shower upon us and bestow upon us a bright, healthy and peaceful new year.

For over 45 years, Sister Marda Tsai has been my spiritual advisor, teacher, mentor and dear friend. As a student at St. Jude School, I used to write to Father James Chang in Hongkong to offer Masses for her Catholic parents who were imprisoned by the communists in China for their religious beliefs. Over the years, I have visited and corresponded with Sr. Marda and even attended her diamond jubliee at St. Rose Convent. Our visit recently to St. Rose was the highlight of our close relationship. (Please read about our visit on the NEWS page of this website). Her artistic talent and love of the Lord are illustrated in the painting and cards she gave me. These tangible memorabilia, as well as the pictures, will always be cherished. Adios Sr. Marda, my heart still aches but I know that God's Will be done, as you've always told me and that you are with the Lord. I miss and love you dearly.

I remember Sr. Marda as my 7th grade teacher. She always had such a humble and meek spirit. She had such a kind face and soft voice when she would teach. She would always paint pictures of birds and trees and would always sign them in Chinese. I will always remember the teachings that they contributed to our community. It was because of the Franciscan Sisters that I chose to go into teaching. Sr. Marda will always be remembered as she was taken by our Heavenly Father to her new home. You are in the great hands of our Heavenly Father. Memorias, Anita Lujan Saxton

May Sister Marda rest in peace. She was a remarkable art teacher and had beautiful connection with St. Padre Pio who wrote her a letter informing her of the welfare of her parents behind the iron curtain in China. Deacon Ronnie San Nicolas

Although I haven't seen or spoken with Sister Marda, "since ever since", she always seemed to have occupied a special place in my heart. I can reflect on the good ole days at St. Jude, and that unforgettable and frightful stare Sister Marda would give me when I did something inappropriate. She would tilt that head of her's down just a tad bit and ever so slightly and then give you that "do it again" stare over the top of those thin rimmed glasses of hers! It was really great back then and at times I honestly must admit that I miss it. I will miss Sr. Marda for sure, but she will not be forgotten. Can't say that I would miss that iconic stare though! Adios Sr. Marda!

Yes, our beloved art and music teacher, Sister Marda Tsai, passed away on December 16th at St. Joseph Villa in La Crosse, WI. Please remember her in your prayers. You're encouraged to express your grief and share your fondest memories here or on the BLOG page.

Sister Marda was my homeroom teacher in the 7th grade, which was my first year at ST. JUDE THADDEUS SCHOOL. She was an artist and quite talented at it too. I and we will miss her. She has lived a good life and she will eternally do so, even though she is no longer with us here on earth. She now rests in PEACE.

Hafa adai George, I added hyperlinks throughout the site, which are printed in blue (not navy), so you can click on Terrie's name in the ARCHIVES page to send an email. The email hyperlink is also available for Fr. Kieran, Juan Torres, SJT Society President, and myself throughout various pages. Incidentally for added amusement, I created "mouse-overs" with several of the photos on every page. You merely scroll or slide your cursor/mouse over a picture, and find another underneath! I would love it if you'd send me a current photo, plus your high school picture, and your favorite memory so that I can post it in the COOL SPOT page! None of us are getting any younger, and our memories of our experience at SJT have brought us back to those happier times in our lives.

Hafa'dai John (Atoigue)! What a miracle this is for you... to find the name and photo of your Baptismal godmother- Maria C. Quifunas, whom you've been searching for! I've emailed you their (your Nino and Nina's) contact numbers, and I'm confident that they'll be overjoyed to hear from you. St. Jude interceded for you and worked another miracle through our Lord, Jesus Christ! Biba San Jude, and Praise God, our Father!!! May God keep you and your family safe from all illness, danger and harm!

I'm looking for my God Parents. Edward and Maria Quifunas. My parents are John Mafnas Atoigue and my mom is Lydia Leon Guerrero Mundo. They divorced when I was only 2 yrs old and mom moved us to Vegas. Since then my mom remarried and the last name I am using now is Bowers (John Mundo Bowers). I've had this baptism certificate and have always wondered who my God Parents were. I saw this web site and I am wondering if this is the same Maria Quifunas. I am now stationed in Hawaii. If any one knows how I can contact MRS. Quifunas from the site I would love to talk to her. My phone # is 808-954-9417. Thanks.. John

Dangkulu na si Yu'os ma ase, Father Kieran for signing the Guest Book, and especially for your prayers for our beloved Sinajana parish of St. Jude Thaddeus! God blessed the people of Sinajana with faithful and inspirational clergy like you, the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, the lay faculty and staff of St. Jude School. I created this website, not only, to honor Saint Jude, but also to memorialize the immeasurable contribution made by your Holy Order of Franciscan Capuchin Priests, and the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration to St. Jude parish and school. Quite evident is the gratitude and love from your former parishioners and SJT students, as expressed by the endearing testimonials submitted in this Guest Book. Please stop by often as the website is a work-in-progress, and I plan to add videos, as soon as I figure out how to:) On behalf of the SJT Alumni Society of Guam, we pray that our Father and our Blessed Mother continue to bless you with health of mind, body and soul.

After being away from GUAM for over 30 years, it was a joyous occasion to be part of the mass offered to the ST. JUDE THADDEUS CATHOLIC SCHOOL ALUMNI on July 19, 2009. Kudos to the individuals who diligently organized a very successful and touchy event. I dedicate the occasion to my fellow classmates of 1970 who are no longer with us. HAFA ADAI to the others who were not able to make the reunion and I hope we will meet next time.

Si Yu'us Maase, Pauline, for this awesome website! To you g-class of '62, thank you. Your reunion last year excited us in having an all-alumni reunion this year. I agree that this should be an annual event. Prior to and after the mass, I observed in everyone's faces the pride and joy of having been a part of and a product of the mighty St. Jude Thaddeus School. Anyone remember having to walk to the church for mass? diagramming? riding the bus to the Paseo for sports day competition? walking down to the Academy for our afternoon session after Supertyphoon Karen?

What an awesome website Polly. We had a wonderful time after the alumni mass, July 19th at Top of the Mar. Memorias to you and your family.
